Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association and Drought Network Tasmania
The Tasmanian Farmers & Graziers Association (TFGA) is the peak agricultural body representing the interests of Tasmanian farmers and there is no organisation better positioned to represent the concerns and needs of our agricultural sector.
The TFGA is involved in community fundraising efforts for affected farmers, such as the Hit Drought for Six cricket match held in December 2008 and a large number of mental health events held throughout the year. The TFGA has become a central point of information and assistance for farmers who are struggling with the lack of rain.
A new initiative that the TFGA is involved in is Drought Network Tasmania. This is a network of organisations and individuals providing services to support farmers, families and communities in the drought affected parts of Tasmania. The key purpose of the network is to be the central point of contact and communication for drought service providers working in the field. The network will assist in the effective allocation of resources to drought-affected farmers, families and communities through network members.
If you are affected by drought, want to help out or want to learn more please contact drought@tfga.com.au or visit www.tfga.com.au.
